Someone please tell me how putting a teacher in a classroom benefits the economic growth of the private sector. The private sector drives the economy of the country. Without it, there are no taxes to pay for teachers, firemen, police and the numerous other services and employees that make up state and local governments. In pure economic terms, the public sector is a huge drain on the private sector. They do not produce anything, they only consume. Please don’t get me wrong, they provide much needed and valuable services, but they do not produce economic growth. Their only economic impact is their spending of tax dollars, extracted from the private sector.
Is he really this economically illiterate or does he think that we are and won’t notice how stupid this sounds? I don’t like either proposition.
